Avalanches in Greece

Despite Greece is known as the land of sun and sea, the hazard of avalanches should not be underestimated.

The region of Plomari in the Island of Lesvos, Greece, was struck by rockfalls for the second time in less than a month.

The region of Plomari in Lesvos island was hit by rocksfalls that damaged houses on Saturday 24 of November 2018.

A massive earthquake occurred 44 kilometers south-west of the Greek island of Zakynthos causing structural damage and electricity power loss. Fortunately no fatalities were reported.
