Extensively urban construction is going on in Asian countries, environmental friendliness and sustainability are emphasized in modern urbanization processes. Environmental friendliness addresses the control of ground movement, mitigation measures and risk management. Those control or mitigation measures should be sustainable. Moreover, the performance of deep excavation and tunnels, mitigation measures and risk management are often site dependent and vary from country to country. The ground conditions, construction practices, codes and standards are very different among Asian countries. The aim of this symposium is to share knowledge and experiences of the analysis, design, construction and maintenance of urban geo-engineering among engineers, researchers and academia professors especially in Asian countries.
