Asian Technical Committee (ATC10), Asian Regional Technical Committee 19 (ATC19), and Technical Committee 305 (TC305) of the ISSMGE, in collaboration with the Kazakhstan Geotechnical Society and the Japanese Geotechnical Society, proudly announce the 6th International Conference on GIS and Geoinformation Zoning for Disaster Mitigation (GIZ), to be held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from August 28th to 30th, 2025.
Building on the success of five prior conferences, this event offers a unique platform for professionals, researchers, engineers, and policymakers to explore cutting-edge advancements in geoinformatics, hazard zoning, geotechnics, earthquake engineering, and disaster prevention.
This conference marks an exciting expansion of ATC10 focus by incorporating emerging technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), Digital Twin, and Machine Learning, which hold great potential for advancing disaster mitigation practices. Alongside this, ATC19 contributes its expertise in the preservation of historic sites, tackling critical challenges at the intersection of cultural heritage and disaster resilience. Furthermore, the inclusion of TC305, Geotechnical Infrastructure for Megacities and New Capitals, highlights the importance of addressing the complex demands of urbanization and infrastructure development in rapidly growing urban centers.
Co-organized with the Kazakhstan Geotechnical Society and the Japanese Geotechnical Society, this event reflects a collaborative effort to foster interdisciplinary approaches to modern geotechnical challenges, including the protection of historic sites from geotechnical and natural disasters. Following the 2023 symposium at the Nara National Institute of Cultural Properties in Japan, the conference seeks to promote knowledge exchange and cooperation between experts from diverse fields.
Join us in the vibrant city of Almaty to exchange ideas, showcase your work, and engage with leading experts. Together, let us shape the future of disaster mitigation and historic site protection while building stronger, more sustainable communities.
