For the 2020 Burmister Lecture, Emeritus Professor Dov Leshchinsky of University of Delaware focuses on Limit State Stability Analysis of Geosynthetic Reinforced Structures.
In this one-hour long lecture, the distinguished Professor, first, explains why Limit State analysis is needed for the stability assessment of Geosynthetic Reinforced Structures. and then navigates through the available Limit State methods of analysis. A Design Approach for Limit Equilibrium Analysis is presented, and subsequently, Design Examples are given. Finally, the Limit Equilibrium method is evaluated against experimental observations, specifically obtained via centrifuge tests, as well as against numerical results, computed via Finite Element and Finite Difference modeling.
