The Dam of Kremasta, Greece
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Water storage capability:  4.750.000.00 cubic meters of water in the upper level of the water.

Total volume of stones, gravel and boulders: 8.131.200 cubic meters

Maximum height of the dam: 160.3 meters

Height of crown: 282 meters

Width of crown: 10 meters

Length of crown: 456 meters
The dam was constructed in 1965 and its use as a
hydroelectric station started in 1966. It is located

850.000.000 KWh.
This is the spillway (υπερχειλιστής) of the dam
This is the crown of the dam. Even though it can
not be very easily seen, it is remarkable that the
small columns on the left and the right side of the
road are deformed and are not in line. This is
caused by the excessive water pressure of the
volume of water.
