    Geoengineer.org Newsletter Issue #62
A monthly publication of Geoengineer.org website
    February 2010

    Greetings

In the midst of an international financial crisis, Geoengineer.org is glad to continue to grow in content and resources, largely thanks to the contributions of its visitors.

Our library currently includes 1,544 publications authored by 1,375 individuals and is now fully searchable. The online Gallery includes now 757 photos in 30 albums. The photos are accompanied by comments and are a great educational tool.

In my introductory Geotechnical course at the University of Michigan, I ask students to visit the gallery and select the photo they find most interesting and in 1-3 lines explain why. I am always amazed with the variability in answers and the students indicate that this is a great way for them to understand what geotechnical engineering is all about.

There are also 26 active blogs and the forums are about to exceed the 1,000 postings threshold. We encourage you to continue to use the available resources and contact us if you want to share an idea or would like to inform us of available resources.

A number of new, unprecedented activities will also be announced this month, so stay tuned!

    Dimitrios Zekkos, Ph.D., P.E.

    Managing Director of Geoengineer.org
    Assistant Professor, Geotechnical Group.
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
