Seismic Response and Stability Analysis of Landfills

Seismic Analysis of Landfill

 Based on our review, the dynamic or seismic analysis of a landfill comprises of the following steps:

(1) Determining site-specific geologic information;

(2) Determining dynamic properties of solid waste material;

(3) Implementing EPA’s seismic design guidelines (or State-specific design criteria);

(4) Adopting method of analysis;

(5) Calculating the (i) peak ground surface acceleration of a landfill site (ii) peak surface acceleration (iii) peak average acceleration of waste mass;

(6) Evaluating landfill slope stability;

 Special sections will be dedicated to (1), (2), and (6) in the following three sections.
