In 2004 Verbeek Management Services (VMS) of Tyler, TX entered the geotechnical arena in North America when we became the American representative of Profound, a Dutch company that develops and markets Foundation Testing and Geotechnical Monitoring Systems, professional and cost-effective systems for the Quality Control and Quality Assurance of foundation piles and other structural components. About two years later, we signed a similar agreement with GeoMil, a Dutch company that specializes in the design and fabrication of Cone Penetration Test equipment used in geotechnical site investigations. This company, formerly known as GMF Gouda, was the world’s first manufacturer of CPT equipment in 1932. To date it has over 70 years experience with high quality CPT, static sounding and penetrometer equipment.
Ever since we began this work, VMS-Profound and VMS-GeoMil have fielded numerous queries in the area of foundation testing and CPT, and we have been looking for an effective and accessible repository for our responses. Last year we learned about the Geoengineer website and the blogs on this website, and my staff immediately knew that we had our answer. By putting the responses to the more general queries on this blog we would have an easy and efficient way to send the information to a much larger audience, and as part of the 2009 goals I was assigned to produce at least 2 blog entries every month.
So now you have a good understanding of what to expect and also why this blog is structured the way it is. Hopefully it will be useful to you, the visitor and reader of this blog, and we hope that you will provide us not only with feedback, but also with interesting questions that we can answer.
