StoneC is a software for the design of stone columns according to the methodology described by Priebe (1995). During the past 2 years we received a lot of feedback regarding the use of the software and how we may improve it. Taking into consideration your requests, we are working on a major update, StoneC 2D 4.0 that mainly introduces a new GUI for the creation of footing elements. Key features of the new version are:

• CAD like interface to draw rectangular or circular footings
• More than one footing element in a single project file
• Support for both the SI and Imperial unit system
• Settlements calculation according to DIN 4019

The new version uses a new file structure so it will not be compatible with project files created with previous versions. A rough estimate regarding the release of the new version is for the end of 2008.
